Firewall - Vuurmuur the Iptables manager

Iptables is a standard packet filtering framework for Linux 2.4.x and 2.6.x based kernel series. There's many tools for new Linux users to help generate rule for easy such as easy firewall generator and jay's iptables. Last day i've found another great tool that can easily help us manage Iptables called Vuurmuur Firewall.

Vuurmuur is a powerful firewall manager built on top of iptables on Linux. It has a simple and easy to learn configuration that allows both simple and complex configurations. The configuration can be fully configured through an Ncurses GUI, which allows secure remote administration through SSH or on the console. Vuurmuur has powerful monitoring features, which allow the administrator to look at the logs, connections and bandwidth usage in realtime. Vuurmuur is open source software and is distributed under the terms of the GNU GPL (Vuumuur).

Everyone with no Iptables knowledge can create a powerfull firewall for their linux box. This tool use Ncurses for the GUI interface so we can manage the firewall in linux text mode. We can easily setup Firewall with NAT, simple port forwarding and easy bandwidth managing. There's many more feature on Vuurmuur like monitoring and accounting.
